Selection and Use of Leading Indicators for Resilience Engineering
One of the critical aspects of resilient systems is to be able to monitor its current performance and to anticipate how well they are prepared for challenges, both expected and unexpected.
Properly selected indicators can provide information proactively to allow the systems to continue safe operations. The use of these indicators ensures that changes made to increase resilience are maintaining their effectiveness or allow changes to be made before the systems are stressed by actual events. In addition, the appropriate selection of indicators allows the trade-offs inherent in resilience to be made on a more informed basis.
The workshop will describe ways to develop leading indicators and provide examples of applications from industrial use.
The workshop is presented by John Wreathall and Dr. Ivonne Herrera.
